Biography

Rt. Rev. Serverus Jjumba is the Ordinary Bishop of Masaka Diocese. He was born on 2nd August 1962 at Bulando Village, Kitovu Parish. On 20th June 1992 he was ordained a priest by Bishop Henry A. Ssentongo. He served as a curate in Mpambire Parish (1992-1993), a Teacher and Bursar of Bukalasa Minor Seminary (1993 – 2000) and Diocesan Treasurer (2000 – 2014). He was appointed Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia on 15th April, 2014.

On 16th March he was appointed by Pope Francis as the new Bishop of Masaka Diocese following the retirement of Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa. He was ordained Bishop on 6th July, 2019 by Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa, assisted by Bishop Joseph Antony Zziwa (Kiyinda Mityana Diocese), Bishop Lambert Bainomugisha (Bishop of Mbarara Archdiocese) , Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga (Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese) and Archbishop Luigi Bianco (Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda).
