The late Fr. Dr. Francis Xavier Mbaziira who was laid to rest on Thursday, February 9, 2023 was highly praised by various speakers for using the local language to teach religion but most especially for translating the Holy Bible from English to Luganda, an assignment he did passionately.

The Bishop of Masaka Diocese, Rev. Serverus Jjumba praised Rev. Fr. Dr. Mbaziira for using his poetry talent to preach the Gospel and all the Ugandans the moral values that we all need. He mentioned that he particularly selected the days Gospel so as to reflect on his literature when he was still alive. This was during a requiem mass celebrated at Bukalasa Seminary.
The Chief of Buddu County, Pookino Jude Muleke praised the cleric for is exceptional contribution to the preservation of the local dialect and traditional culture of Buganda through his poetry and research in the Luganda language. He asked the mother church to preserve his poems and literature works.

On behalf of the Bible Society of Uganda, the Executive Director, Mr. Mukhama whose message was delivered by Mr. Mugerwa Medson, the Human Resource, particularly praised Fr. Dr. Mbaziira for translating the Holy Bible.
Rev. Fr. Dr. Francis Xavier Mbaziira, a priest of the Roman Catholic Church died aged 87 in Nsambya Hospital. At the time of his death he was stationed in Kitaasa Catholic Parish, Bukomansimbi District. He authored one of the greatest Luganda poems. “Enfa ya Matyansi Butyampa, which was recited as a conclusion to the eulogies from various speakers. He also translated the documents of the Second Vatican Council among other Roman Catholic Church publications.
