Masaka Diocese has got three papal Knights in the papal order of St. Gregory the great including Luswaata Joseph former Chartists of Masaka Diocese, Nabukeera Gertrude Nakanwagi from Bumanji Parish and Richard Muwanga Kivumbi from Nkoni Parish.
The Bishop of Masaka Diocese Severus Jjumba announced this in the confirmation Mass whereby 85 pupils from Bright Grammar Primary School and St. Charles Lwanga Kasasa received confirmation sacrament at Kitovu Cathedral.
The bishop stated that although Catholics have frequently asked for papal knights, the pope has responded to their request today and urged all Christians to offer prayers and support to these new papal knights.

These are some of the first Papal Knights in the Diocese of Masaka. Benedicto Lutankome, who was originally from Kabuwoko Parish but was transferred to Kindu Parish as a result of the creation of new parishes, the late Benard Kakinda from Kyamaganda Parish and others.
