Bishop Jjumba delivering speech

The Rt. Rev. Serverus Jjumba, the Ordinary of the Diocese of Masaka, has announced some of the themes he wants Christians to follow in the new year including raising awareness of the importance of the Lord’s Day, schools getting involved in in the worship of the sacrament and others.

The Ordinary made the announcement during a mass he led to thank God for enabling him to shepherd his sheep for six years now and in the same ceremony he visited the shrine of martyr Kalooli Lwanga in Birinzi, Butende Parish, Bukulula Deanery in Masaka District.

Bishop Jjumba said that when he was ordained and consecrated as the Ordinary of Masaka Diocese on 6/07/2019 he proclaimed the theme of his entire pastorate of proclaiming Christ crucified and he is committed to this.

The Bishop called upon the Christians to emulate Saint Charles Lwanga. He praised the martyr’s courage in standing against evil, even at the cost of death for his faith. Bishop Jjumba encouraged both clergy and lay Christians to carry out their responsibilities with devotion, emphasizing their role in advancing the Christian faith and uplifting communities.

The Bishop also reminded the faithful that this Jubilee year the Diocese of Masaka is preparing for the Synod which will be inaugurated on the Christ the King Day this year.

The pilgrimage was attended by the Archbishop of the Diocese of Kampala , His Grace Paul Ssemogerere who urged all those who have come out to lead the people to do so with a Christian heart and urged them to avoid a hatred in this election. The Archbishop also urged the youth to make better use of their youthful potential rather than being used by those who seek their own interests.
